The weekend of April 21-23 at Hopewell Moose Family Center was hectic for all the employees and volunteers as 271 darters showed up to compete in the 23rd Annual International Dart Tournament. Shooters from as far as Florida, Ohio, Illinois along with North & South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia of course Virginia and our most northern shooters from Canada. We started off Friday night with 164 players in the Luck of the Draw. Saturday dawned very early for many of our shooters as they kicked off with Mixed Triples, followed by Mens Doubles, Ladies Doubles, Mens Singles and Ladies Singles. Sunday brought on our awards ceremony with plaques for Saturdays winners and runners up with a special certificate presented to Mr. Harry Gibson from Port Jefferson, NY who has competed in ALL 23 tournaments! Then on to the team event. 46 four person teams competed through out the day. The winning team was a combination of players from 2 Lodges in Virginia and 1 from Florida.
We were very fortunate to have with us 2 members of the International Activities Committee, JC Patton from Woodard, Oklahoma and Wayne Strickland from Wilson, NC. These 2 gentlemen assisted the Committee to make sure everything ran smooth. They were awesome to work with and fun to be around!!
Next years tournament will be held in Vineland, NJ on April 20-22, 2018! See you there! Keep shooting.
