The Hopewell Moose Lodge has supported the 804 Heat Basketball for the past two years. Most of these kids would never have the opportunity to participate in a high level of completion if it were not for the generosity of the surrounding community. The Lodge donated $500 at the beginning of the season for uniforms and entry fee to defray the cost of entering various tournaments. Recently the Lodge donated $2,000 to allow the 10th grade team to compete in the Nationals in Myrtle Beach, SC. We also host the teams for their post season banquet.

The 804 Heat is a non-profit AAU basketball organization serving over 70 youth athletes ages 10 thru 16 each year. The 804 Heat consists of players from across the Colonial Height, Prince George, Hopewell “Tri-Cities” and surrounding areas.

The main objective of the program is to increase opportunities for young men and women in our community's. Teaching players the fundamentals of demanding work, dedication and sportsmanship on and off the court through a structured athletic environment. The organization aim is to develop teamwork and self-confidence, expressing the importance of academics in a family atmosphere.

Their goals are to give these young athletes the chance to play the best competition within the state and surrounding areas. This organization allows players the opportunity to showcase their talents and possibly receive scholarships to help further their education. The 804 Heat is led by an all-volunteer group of coaches and staff.
