On June 23, WTVR6 reporter, Wayne Covil, aired a story about 9yr old Kierston Lee. Kierston's, 1 yr old, baby brother, had to have a liver transplant. Kierston's birthday was coming but she was more concerned about her baby brother and wanted the family, to use their money, for the medical costs, instead of her birthday. Kierston even took to YouTube, to help raise money, for her brother. As she put it " presents are a want, this is a need". Upon seeing this segment, the members of the Hopewell Moose sprang into action! After coordinating with reporter Wayne Covil and Kierston's mother. Members, of the lodge, met at Toys R Us, at Southpark Mall, and surprised Kierston, with a birthday shopping spree! Kierston and her baby brother were presented with lil Tommy Moose dolls, and the shopping began. A check was also presented to Kierston's mom, towards medical expenses.
As the June 25th headline read: "she asked for donations not gifts, then got a birthday surprise" Thanks to Hopewell Moose Family Center #1472
